CLEVELAND, Miss. – Head Baseball Coach Rodney Batts invites baseball fans to the inaugural First Pitch Dinner scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at the Bolivar County Multipurpose Expo Complex.
 
The event will feature a live auction, silent auction, raffle prizes, and a catered meal. There is limited seating (only 250 tickets), so fans are encouraged to purchase tickets soon.
 
Head Coach Rodney Batts encourages all Delta State baseball fans to attend this event and support the program. "This special event will support the baseball program's operational expenses throughout the season. I hope everyone will come out and support our team but also hear some great baseball stories."
 
Featured guests will include former Delta State players who played for Major League Baseball teams: Jim Miles (Washington Senators), Barry Lyons (Mets), Scooter Tucker (Giants), Eli Whiteside (Giants), Edwin Maysonet (Brewers), Dusty Hughes (Royals), Matt Miller (Indians), Brent Leach (Dodgers), Trent Giambrone (Cubs), and Stewart Cliburn (Angels). Lyons was a World Series Champion with the Mets in 1986, and Whiteside was a two-time World Series Champion with the Giants in 2010 and 2012.
