Cleveland, Miss. -- The Delta State University softball team traveled to Lafayette, Louisiana to compete in the Mardi Gras Open. The Lady Statesmen opened the tournament with the Muleriders of Southern Arkansas. DSU welcomed four new starters to the starting lineup.
Morgan Grubb drew the start on the mound today. SAU scored two runs in the second inning. SAU added another run in the third inning, and DSU responded by adding two runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Muleriders scored three more runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 6-3. SAU added one more run in the fifth inning to defeat the Lady Statesmen 7-3.
