VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Statesmen began a new GSC series Friday night in Valdosta against the Blazers. Valdosta State recorded nineteen hits as they took game one of the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delta State left a runner on base in the top of the first after Brett Burrell picked up a two-out single. The first seven Blazer batters reached on hits as they scored ten runs on nine hits in the bottom of the first. 10-0 VSU after one.
- Dylan Dendy and Hayden Cooper reached on errors in the top of the second as DSU left a runner at third at the end of the frame. Valdosta State used a leadoff walk and a hit to plate another run in the bottom of the second. 11-0 VSU after two.
- The Statesmen went in order in the top of the third. The Blazers extended their lead with a solo home run. 12-0 VSU after three.
- Dylan Dendy drew a two-out walk in the top of the fourth; VSU recorded a hit, but hit into an inning-ending double play. Blayke Dendy doubled to start the fourth and moved to third after a flyout. He scored on groundout by Matthew Nichols. The Blazers added two runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth. 14-1 VSU after five.
- Delta State sent three to the plate in the top of the sixth; VSU added four runs on four hits. Dylan Dendy hit a leadoff single in the top of the seventh and moved to second after a walk to Eric Newsom. Peyton Badon drew an HBP to load the bases with no outs, but the Statesmen were unable to plate a run. 18-1 VSU final.
On The Mound
- Starter Logan Eldridge faced six batters, allowing six runs on six hits.
- Brady Davis pitched 1.1 innings, allowing five runs on four hits with a strikeout and three walks.
- Hammer Franks pitched 3.2 innings of relief, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out one Blazer with two walks and two HBPs.
- Eric Newsom pitched the sixth inning, allowing four runs on four hits with two strikeouts and a walk.
