A flyout and a double play ended DSU's scoring threat. VSU had another baserunner in the bottom of the second, but a double play on a one-out bunt ended the inning. Wes Warnock put the Statesmen on the board in the top of the second with a two-out solo homer to right center. The Blazers left one on base after a two-out walk. Tied 1-1 after three.
  • Cooper recorded another hit with one out in the top of the fourth and moved to second after an HBP to Blayke Dendy. Dylan Dendy drew a full-count walk, loading the bases with one out. Taylor Woodcock drew an RBI walk with two outs to keep the bases loaded. Matthew Nichols then roped a single to right field to score the Dendys from second and third. Wes Warnock doubled with runners at the corners, scoring Woodcock and moving Nichols to third. Brett Burrell drew an HBP to load the bases again. After a VSU pitching change, Dylan Coleman blasted a grand slam to left center as the Statesmen plated eight in the frame. The Blazers loaded the bases again in the bottom of the fourth but only plated one run. 9-2 Delta State after four.
  • The Statesmen went in order in the top of the fifth; the Blazers stranded a two-out walk in the home half of the inning. Nichols drew a one-out walk and was the only DSU baserunner in the sixth. Another Blazer run after two errors and a walk in the home half of the sixth. 9-3 Delta State after six.
  • Coleman started the seventh with a double off the centerfield wall and moved to third on a wild pitch. Two ABs later, he scored on Blayke Dendy's one-out RBI sac fly. Delta State left two on base after Dylan Dendy's HBP and Brendan McCauley's walk with two outs.
