OXFORD, Miss. – The Delta State University Women's Tennis team tested the Tigers from Tennessee State University but fell 5-2 in a neutral site exhibition match in the William F Galtney Indoor Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Mississippi.
 
For the green and white, Elena Palioura swept TSU's Warona Mdlulwa (6-1, 7-5) in the #1 singles match. Junior Yasmina Mayer defeated Francisca Gomez-Weiss (6-3, 3-6, 6-1) in the #3 singles match.
 
The duo of Angie Moreno and Lara Torres prevented the Lady Statesmen from getting swept in doubles action with a 7-5 win in the #2 doubles match against the Tiger duo of Sydney Brantley and Louise Ratiu.
 
The Lady Statesmen will return home for a scrimmage with the East Central Community College on Friday, Jan. 31 at the Cleveland Country Club at 1:00 p.m. (CDT).
