CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta State University Men's Soccer team fell at home to the Trojans from Trevecca Nazarene University 2-0 Friday afternoon at Delta Field.
The Statesmen (1–9–2, 0–7–1 GSC) matched the Trojans stride-for-stride for much of the afternoon, showing grit and energy across all 90 minutes. Goalkeeper
Leo Summers was again a standout presence in net, tallying
three first-half saves to keep the match within reach and command a defensive unit that held strong against 15 Trojan shots.
Delta State created several promising attacking moments, outshooting the Trojans 6–5 in the second half and finishing with
11 total attempts.
Ryan Thistle,
Matthew Nicklas, and
Elijah Belk each generated key scoring opportunities, while
Santiago Rossi forced a diving save early in the second half.
Veborn Oen and
Marco Alessio provided valuable minutes off the bench, helping maintain energy and possession as Delta State pushed forward late.
Delta State returns to action Sunday when they host Senior Day against
Lee at Delta Field at 3:45 p.m. (CDT).
