MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Delta State University men's soccer team closed its 2025 campaign with a 2-1 loss to the Warhawks from Auburn University-Montgomery Sunday afternoon at the AUM Soccer Complex
After falling behind early, the Statesmen rallied in the second half, controlling possession and generating multiple scoring chances down the stretch. Senior midfielder
Braden Taylor capped off Delta State's strong finish with a goal in the 87th minute, his third of the season, off a smart assist from
Santi Rossi. The late strike highlighted the Statesmen's relentless energy and unwillingness to quit, keeping pressure on the Warhawks until the final whistle.
Defensively, Delta State's back line—anchored by
Logan Funk,
Landon Cox, and
Eduardo Guevara—limited AUM to just two shots on goal across 90 minutes, despite the home side's high-tempo attack.
Mason Baglio went the full distance in goal, organizing the defense and helping the Statesmen stay composed throughout.
The Statesmen finished the season with a 2-10-3 overall record and a 1-8-2 Gulf South Conference record.
