ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Delta State University Swimming and Diving delivered a dominant showing on the road Saturday, sweeping Ouachita Baptist in dual meet action. The Lady Statesmen topped the Tigers 168-92, while the Statesmen came away with a 160-139 victory.
Delta State set the tone early with commanding wins in both opening relays. The women's 200-yard medley relay team of
Olivia Murphy, Pia Delkeskamp, Zinna Nimander, and Ave Owens posted a 1:45.49 to take first place, while the men's quartet of
Mateus Franco, Jacob Hamblen, Kacper Mochnal, and Ethan Baylin clocked in at 1:33.70 to edge Ouachita by just two-tenths of a second.
Franco continued his outstanding meet with a strong win in the
men's 1650 freestyle (15:54.05) and contributed to a runner-up finish in the 200 backstroke.
Julia Maciak claimed the women's distance crown in the
1000 freestyle (10:53.96), leading a wire-to-wire race for the Lady Statesmen.
Delta State showcased depth across all strokes.
Kaley Davis and
Murphy went 1–2 in the
women's 100 backstroke, while
Neill Mauss and
Kostantin Ilijic earned top finishes in the
men's 100 breaststroke. The Statesmen dominated the diving boards as
Santiago Santodomingo won both the
1-meter (504.60) and
3-meter (329.60) events, with teammate
Jake Bigler placing second on the lower board.
On the women's side,
Nimander sprinted to victory in both the
50 free (23.77) and
100 free (52.60), while
Janne Bodemer and
Mikayla Kloth swept the top two spots in the
100 butterfly.
Kiera Cloete added a win in the
200 breaststroke, and
Chloe Skelt took first in the
200 IM (2:08.88).
The meet concluded with another strong relay showing as the Lady Statesmen secured the
200 free relay (1:37.29) and the men placed second with a time of
1:25.15.
With the sweep, Delta State continues to build momentum heading into the midseason invitational stretch. Both squads will return to action next weekend as they prepare for the Thanksgiving Meet in two weeks at the Ronnie G. Mayers Aquatics Center.
