Lady Statesmen and Statesmen Power Past Ouachita Baptist in Dual Meet Sweep

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. –  The Delta State University Swimming and Diving delivered a dominant showing on the road Saturday, sweeping Ouachita Baptist in dual meet action. The Lady Statesmen topped the Tigers 168-92, while the Statesmen came away with a 160-139 victory.

Delta State set the tone early with commanding wins in both opening relays. The women's 200-yard medley relay team of Olivia Murphy, Pia Delkeskamp, Zinna Nimander, and Ave Owens posted a 1:45.49 to take first place, while the men's quartet of Mateus Franco, Jacob Hamblen, Kacper Mochnal, and Ethan Baylin clocked in at 1:33.70 to edge Ouachita by just two-tenths of a second.

Franco continued his outstanding meet with a strong win in the men's 1650 freestyle (15:54.05) and contributed to a runner-up finish in the 200 backstroke. Julia Maciak claimed the women's distance crown in the 1000 freestyle (10:53.96), leading a wire-to-wire race for the Lady Statesmen.

Delta State showcased depth across all strokes. Kaley Davis and Murphy went 1–2 in the women's 100 backstroke, while Neill Mauss and Kostantin Ilijic earned top finishes in the men's 100 breaststroke. The Statesmen dominated the diving boards as Santiago Santodomingo won both the 1-meter (504.60) and 3-meter (329.60) events, with teammate Jake Bigler placing second on the lower board.

On the women's side, Nimander sprinted to victory in both the 50 free (23.77) and 100 free (52.60), while Janne Bodemer and Mikayla Kloth swept the top two spots in the 100 butterfly. Kiera Cloete added a win in the 200 breaststroke, and Chloe Skelt took first in the 200 IM (2:08.88).

The meet concluded with another strong relay showing as the Lady Statesmen secured the 200 free relay (1:37.29) and the men placed second with a time of 1:25.15.

With the sweep, Delta State continues to build momentum heading into the midseason invitational stretch. Both squads will return to action next weekend as they prepare for the Thanksgiving Meet in two weeks at the Ronnie G. Mayers Aquatics Center.
