Livingston, Ala. – Delta State University women's soccer team closed out it's 2025 season in the first round of the Gulf South Conference Championship Tournament in a 2–1 loss at West Alabama on Friday evening at the UWA Track and Soccer Complex.
After falling behind early, the Lady Statesmen regrouped and turned up the pressure in the second half, outshooting the Tigers 11–6 over the final 45 minutes and earning seven corner kicks to UWA's two. The persistence paid off in the 78th minute when
Millie Congerton found the back of the net for her
sixth goal of the season, finishing off a sustained spell of Delta State possession to pull the Green and White within one.
Delta State continued to push for the equalizer, creating several late chances as
Chloe Colquhoun and
Mariela Dolan peppered the West Alabama goal with shots from distance.
Piper Burgess anchored the defense with a pair of key second-half saves to keep DSU within striking distance.
The Lady Statesmen's strong closing stretch capped a regular season that saw them finish
7-6-4 overall and 6-3-3 in conference play, marking the first winning campaign under head coach
