CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Women's Swimming and Diving Team took down the Tigers from Ouachita Baptist University 331-253 on senior day in Ronald G. Mayers Aquatics Center Saturday afternoon.
Seniors
Reagan Fulton, and
Meredith Rice finished their final regular season with a bang taking first and second in the one-meter dive. Fulton took first posting a 430.13 score with Rice finishing second scoring 399.08.
Two events after the one-meter dive, fellow senior
Hannah Murray finished atop of the pack in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:01.50. Murray edged out teammate
Jessica Gannon, who finished in 5:01.92.
Janne Bodemer started the evening session with a first-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:27.81.
In the following event,
Ave Owens and
Zinna Nimander took the top two spots in the 100-yard freestyle. Owens took first place with a 50.87 second time while Nimander finished in 50.99 seconds.
Following the one meter-dive,
Hannah Jones took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.72.
On the 12
th event of the evening, Nimander and
Mikayla Kloth were the top two finishers in the 100-yard butterfly. Nimander beat out Kloth by three hundredths of a second with a time of 55.63 seconds.
To finish the evening, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Nimander,
Olivia Murphy, Kloth, and Owens dominated the A final with a 1:33.31 timed race.
The Lady Statesmen are back in the Ronald G. Mayers Aquatics Center for the final time in the 2024-25 season for the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships from Tuesday, Feb. 18 to Saturday Feb. 22.
