CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Baseball Team (4-3, 0-0 GSC) are back in town for a three-game series with the Flames from Lee University (5-2, 0-0 GSC) today and tomorrow in Harvey Stadium at Ferriss Field.
The Statesmen and Flames will face off in a double header set to start at 2:00 p.m. (CDT) this afternoon. The two teams will battle again tomorrow afternoon for a single nine-inning game set for 1:00 p.m. (CDT).
The three-game series will be on the FloCollege network.
Scouting the Statesmen
- Delta State enters this weekend with a 4-3 overall record after sweeping the Badgers from Spring Hill College last weekend in the home opening season. Last time these two met, the Statesmen ended up on top 5-3 in the 2024 GSC championship tournament.
- The Statesmen have got solid starts from senior right handers Drake Fontenot and Dylan Farley. The Bossier City, La., native threw seven innings striking out three Badgers last Friday evening earning his first win of the season. Farley struck out seven hitters while going five innings last Saturday to get his first win of the season.
- Preseason all-GSC honoree Dylan Coleman had a tremendous weekend at the plate for the green and white. The Madison native went 7-11 with two doubles, a triple and a home run while driving in seven runs. Jacob Hill went 7-13 last weekend with two doubles, a triple and three rbis.
Scouting the Flames
- Lee enters this weekend with a 5-2 overall record after sweeping the Chargers last weekend in Cleveland, Tenn. Last time Lee came to Harvey Stadium at Ferriss Field, The Statesmen took two of three games from the Flames in 2022.
- On the mound, the Flames have got a solid two starts from junior Cooper Casteel. Casteel enters this weekend with a 1-0 record with a 1.00 ERA in nine innings pitched. Out of the bullpen, Lee has had a solid start from redshirt senior Ty Cobb. Cobb has had three appearances with a 2.35 ERA with a save and five strikeouts.
- The Flames have a one-two punch in sophomore Isaiah French and graduate Levi Cloud. French leads all Lee hitters with a .478 batting average with five runs driven in on 11 hits. Cloud has nine hits with four
