CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Softball Team (10-19, 5-14 GSC) were on the wrong end of a Friday GSC double header sweep against the Chargers from the University of Alabama at Huntsville (19-17, 11-9 GSC) at University Field.
The Chargers won game one 8-2 and followed it up with an 11-1 win in the late afternoon contest.
GAME ONE
The Lady Statesmen would get two-hit performances from
Nevaeh Lopez and
Abbi Cataldo in the game one 8-2 loss against UAH.
After a Charger run in the top of the first, Delta State responded to tie the game up at 1-1 with three hits in the bottom of the first from
Mary Teague, Lopez and a rbi single from Cataldo.
Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Delta State had the tying run on third after a sacrifice fly from
Emma Collier to make it 3-2.
UAH would add five insurance runs in the top of the seventh to hold on to a 8-2 win in game one.
Ellie Cox went five innings in the circle striking out two batters in the starting role.
GAME TWO
The Lady Statesmen fell behind early in the 11-1 game two loss against the Chargers.
Delta State would score in the bottom of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly from Collier to make it 11-1.

The Lady Statesmen and the Chargers will play the final game of the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) from University Field.
