CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Baseball Team (13-5, 7-2 GSC) will hit the road this weekend for a three-game series with the Buccaneers from Christian Brothers University (6-11, 1-8 GSC).
The series opener with CBU will be on Friday at 2:00 p.m. from Nadicksbernd Field. The two teams will finish the three-game series with a double header Saturday starting at noon.

Scouting the Statesmen
- Delta State enters this weekend's series ranked 13th in the National Baseball Writers' Association poll and 19th in the D2baseball national poll. The Statesmen hold a 13-5 overall record and a 7-2 record in GSC play.
- On the mound for DSU, senior righty Drake Fontenot has been on a roll as the game one starter this season for Delta State. The Bossier City native leads all pitchers in the GSC with a .85 ERA and has struck out 35 opposing hitters while only allowing four walks.
- At the plate, Cleveland native Brett Burrell is off to a solid start for the green and white. Burrell holds a .481 batting average with a .778 slugging percentage. Brett leads the Statesmen with four home runs, and 21 RBIs along with a .567 on base percentage.
Scouting the Buccaneers
- The Buccaneers enter this weekend with a 6-11 overall record and a 1-8 record in GSC play. Last weekend, CBU got swept by the Tigers from the University of West Alabama in Livingston after a big mid-week win over nationally ranked Arkansas Monticello.
- On the mound, the Bucs have relied on junior Charlie Faoro. The Flossmoor, Ill., native went 6.2 innings pitched with five strikeouts last Friday afternoon in Livingston. Faoro holds a 0-2 record with a 6.38 ERA, 21 strikeouts in 18.1 innings pitched.
- At the plate, senior infielder Sam Walker has the highest batting average in the Buccaneer lineup. Walker holds a .377 batting average with seven doubles, seven RBIs and a slugging percentage of .566.
