BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Delta State University Baseball's senior right-handed pitcher Drake Fontenot is this week's Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week. This is the fifth time Fontenot has earned the honors in the 2025 season.
 
The Bossier City, La., native earned his eighth win of the season in ten starts after tossing eight innings and struck out nine falcons and only gave up one run on a leadoff home run.
 
Fontenot leads the GSC with a 1.27 ERA, 70.2 innings pitched, 67 strikeouts, and holds opposing hitters to a .194 batting average for the season.
 
The Statesmen are at home today for a non-conference mid-week battle with the Boll Weevils from the University of Arkansas Monticello. The first pitch for this afternoon is set for 5:00 p.m. (CDT) in Harvey Stadium at Ferriss Field.
