Statesmen Drop Opening Round Game against UWF

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Delta State University Baseball Team (32-19) fell to the University of West Florida (34-19) 7-3 in the NCAA South Regional this afternoon at Henley Field. 

The Statesmen had multi-hit performances from Wes Warnock, Brendan McCauley, and Preston Soper. 

McCauley would start the game with a 1 out single to left followed by a Brett Burrell walk 

Down 4-0 in the top of the fifth, Delta State started the inning with a lead off single from Andin Johnson. On the next at-bat, Soper would hit a two-run home run to make it 4-2. 

The Statesmen added a run in the top of the ninth with two outs on a Warnock rbi double down the left field line to make it 7-3 

Delta State will play the loser of Florida Southern and West Alabama tomorrow at 1:00 p.m., (CDT)/2:00pm (EST).
