Late Statesmen Rally Gives DSU 4-3 Extra Inning Win over No. 17 Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The Delta State University baseball team rallied late and scored in the 10th inning to secure a 4–3 Gulf South Conference victory over No. 17 Lee University on Friday afternoon at Larry Carpenter Stadium.

Trailing 3–1 entering the ninth, the Statesmen mounted a two-out comeback to even the score. A run-scoring double brought Delta State within one before a Lee throwing error allowed the tying run to cross, sending the game to extra innings.

In the 10th, Cade Greer opened the frame with a double down the right-field line and later scored on Dawson Muenzenmay's RBI single to give the Statesmen their first lead of the afternoon at 4–3. Muenzenmay then closed the door in the bottom half, striking out two to seal the comeback win.

Greer paced Delta State offensively with two hits and two runs scored, while Bo Rock added a pair of hits and an RBI. Muenzenmay not only delivered the game-winning hit but also earned the victory on the mound with two scoreless innings and four strikeouts in relief.

Starter Adrian Byrd was strong through seven innings, allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out 11. Alex McHale bridged the game to extra innings before Muenzenmay finished the effort.

Delta State improved to 3–2 overall and 1–0 in Gulf South Conference play with the win, while Lee moved to 6–1 overall and 0–1 in league action.

The two teams continue the conference series on Saturday with a double header starting at 1:00 p.m. (CT) from Larry Carpenter Stadium.
