CLINTON, Miss. — The Delta State University men's tennis team delivered a strong all-around performance on Tuesday, defeating Spring Hill College by a 6–1 margin at the MC Tennis Complex.
Delta State (4–1) secured the doubles point with victories across all three courts.
Marti Cerda Castillo and
Valentino Millimaci opened the scoring with a 6–4 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Juan Diego Alzate and
Alejandro Bravo matched that scoreline at No. 2.
Valentin Greco and
Simon Ojeda completed the sweep with a 6–3 triumph in the third position.
In singles play, the Statesmen captured five of six matches to seal the team victory. Alzate rolled to a straight-sets 6–3, 6–4 win at No. 2, and
Valentin Greco, the reigning Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, followed with a dominant 6–3, 6–2 performance at No. 3. Cerda Castillo controlled the No. 4 line with a 6–2, 6–2 decision, while Bravo posted a convincing 6–3, 6–1 win at No. 5. Millimaci closed the scoring for Delta State with a 6–2, 6–1 victory in the sixth position. Spring Hill's lone point came at No. 1 singles.
With the win, Delta State improves to 4–1 on the season and continues to build momentum heading into the heart of its spring schedule with their first GSC match this upcoming Saturday against the Flames from Lee at the Cleveland Country Club.
