BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Delta State University Baseball's Left-Handed Pitcher Adrian Byrd has earned this week's Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week announced by the conference office this morning.
 
Byrd turned in one of the most efficient outings of the season. The left-hander tossed eight shutout innings holding a perfect game into the sixth and a no-hit bit into the seventh, allowing just one hit while striking out seven and walking none in Delta State's game one 9-2 win Friday evening at Union. Byrd faced just two batters over the minimum and needed only 91 pitches to silence the Union lineup.
 
Byrd is currently 2-0 on the season with a 1.80 ERA, 26 strikeouts compared to four walks in three starts so far this season.
 
Byrd will face the Argonauts from West Florida this Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. (CT) at Harvey Stadium at Ferriss Field.
