BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Delta State University baseball's senior left-handed pitcher Adrian Byrd has been named the Gulf South Conference pitcher of the week, announced by the conference office this morning.
 
Byrd got the Statesmen's weekend sweep at Auburn Montgomery started with a complete-game shutout for the second consecutive weekend as the Statesmen defeated AUM 11-0 in seven innings.
 
Against the Warhawks, Byrd threw seven innings, only gave up four hits and struck out 11 batters in the win.
 
Byrd leads the Gulf South Conference with a 1.79 ERA, 82 strikeouts and has held opposing hitters to a .205 batting average.
 
The Statesmen will be on the road this afternoon for their final non-conference game of the regular season as they will face the Bisons from Harding University.
