LAKELAND, Fla. – Delta State University baseball's senior pitcher Adrian Byrd is this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association's (NCBWA) South Region Pitcher of the Week.
 
Byrd got the Statesmen's weekend sweep at Auburn Montgomery started with a complete-game shutout for the second consecutive weekend as the Statesmen defeated AUM 11-0 in seven innings.
 
Against the Warhawks, Byrd threw seven innings, only gave up four hits and struck out 11 batters in the win.
 
Byrd leads the Gulf South Conference with a 1.79 ERA, 82 strikeouts and has held opposing hitters to a .205 batting average.
 
Byrd will take the mound for DSU this weekend at Ferriss Field for the final time in the regular season as the Statesmen will host the Choctaws from Mississippi College.
