BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Delta State University Women's Soccer senior forward
Millie Congerton has earned preseason All-Gulf South Conference honors as the Lady Statesmen are picked fourth with 87 points in the 2026 preseason coaches' poll announced this morning by the conference office.
Fourth is tied for the highest preseason poll ranking the Lady Statesmen earned in program history with the 2021 fall team.
Congerton is one of nine Lady Statesmen returning to the roster for the 2026 season after the Lady Statesmen went 7-6-4 last season and held a 6-3-3 record in conference play.
The Rickmansworth, England native was the leading scorer for the Lady Statesmen in the 2025 season. Congerton scored 13 total points with a team high six goals and one assist. Congerton totaled 30 shots on goal which marked third in the conference last season.
The Lady Statesmen kick off their 2026 campaign next week with a two-match road trip to the Sunshine State to take on Saint Leo on Thursday, Aug. 27 and Eckerd on Saturday, Aug. 29. Their home opener is on Wednesday Sept. 26 as they will host GSC foe Union at 1:00 p.m.
