CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's soccer team opens up Gulf South Conference play this weekend as they travel east to take on the Blazers from Valdosta State University.
 
Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. (CT)/ 2:00 p.m. (ET) from the Soccer Complex at Valdosta State University. The match will be streamed live on the FloCollege digital network.
 
Scouting the Lady Statesmen

• Delta State enters conference play with a 1-2-1 overall record after a tough non-conference slate that seen the Lady Statesmen travel to Florida and Illinois. DSU is looking to bounce back from their 5-1 setback on Labor Day against Jackson State.
• Offensively, Delta State is paced by senior midfielder Caroline Chandler, who leads the Green and White with five points on the season on two goals and an assist. Last time out, Chandler put one in the net earning her second goal of the season against Jackson State.
• On the backend, the Lady Statesmen keepers combined lead the GSC with 33 saves on the season, posting 8.25 saves per contest. Kim Bircher, in two starts holds a 1-1 record in goal with 15 saves. Piper Burgess leads the keeper duo with 18 saves on the season.
• On the back line, the Lady Statesmen are led by sophomore Evie Shepherd, who has logged in a team-high 286 minutes in four matches this season.

Scouting the Blazers

• Valdosta State enters conference play with a 1-1-1 overall record after an entertaining 2-2 tie against Georgia Southwestern that seen the Blazers give up a goal in the first ten seconds of the match.
• The Blazer attack is led by senior forward Sarah Hudson. The New York native leads VSU with five points this season on two goals and a assist. Last time out, Hudson scored a goal on the 33^rd minute to tie the match up 2-2 against Georgia Southwestern.
• In goal, the Blazers have relied on sophomore keeper Adrienne Cardona-Colon. Cardona-Colon has 13 saves in three matches while holding a 1-1-1 record. The Winter Haven, Fla., native has faced 18 of her 36 shots in the last two matches against Eckerd and Georgia Southwestern.
