CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State University Football Alum Dohnte Meyers will make his NFL debut this weekend with the Cincinnati Bengals as they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 p.m. (CT).
Meyers had a stellar career with Delta State in the 2021 and 2022 seasons when he helped Delta State win a Gulf South Conference Championship in 2022. The Norcross, Ga., native had 120 receptions for 1542 yards and 13 touchdowns across 24 games played for the Green and White.
"Very proud of Dohnte." Former head coach Todd Cooley mentioned. "No one who coached him or played with him at Delta State is surprised by his accomplishments. His work ethic is unmatched."
Dohnte earned first team all-GSC honors in the 2022 season where the Statesmen made 65 receptions marking, ninth all-time in the record books, for 877 yards and eight touchdowns.
After his career with the Statesmen, Meyers declared for the 2023 NFL Draft. After not being selected, Meyers attended the rookie minicamp to try out with his hometown team the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons would pass on the former Statesmen before another opportunity would pop up for Meyers.
In fall of 2023, Meyers would pay $100 to try out for the Canadian Football League's Saskatchewan Roughriders.
In 2024, Meyers would sign a futures contract with the Roughriders after the 2023 season ended.
After a broken hand, and a separated shoulder ended his 2024 season, Meyers would bounce back in 2025 in a big way.
In the 2025 season, Meyers would have 65 catches for 1,056 yards and eight touchdowns, leading the Roughriders to a Grey Cup Championship, while earning CFL West All-Star honors.
His stellar season would catch the attention of NFL teams and began workouts before signing with the Bengals in January of 2026.
During the Preseason with the Bengals, Meyers impressed as he hauled in 11 receptions for 121 yards in three games before earning a spot on the 52-man roster announced on August 30, 2026.
"I felt amazing because that was a call I've been looking forward to getting." Meyers mentioned, "I didn't get a chance to have it Draft Night. My family was around me that night too, so was able to return the favor and a few years later be able to experience that again. It was amazing."
