CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's soccer team returns to Delta Field this week for a two-game home stand and the home opener starting tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

The Lady Statesmen will kick off the week with their home opener against the Lady Bulldogs from Union University at 1:00 p.m., CT. Following tomorrow, the Lady Statesmen will finish the weekend with a matchup against the Chargers from UAH Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from Delta Field.

The Lady Statesmen are 1-3-1 overall with an 0-1-0 record in conference play after dropping a tight 3-2 conference opener on the road at Valdosta State this past Saturday in Valdosta, Ga.

Scouting the Lady Statesmen:

• Delta State comes back to Delta Field where they have only lost one match in conference play in the past two seasons, holding a 4-1-6 record in the Chloe Kane era.
• The Lady Statesmen held a 1-0-1 record against this week's opponents in the 2025 season. The Green and White went on the road last season and had a scoreless tie against Union, while winning 1-0 in mid-October against UAH.
• The Green and White have a strong presence in the attack in the 2026 season. The Lady Statesmen are led by the duo from Tupelo in Caroline Chandler and Emma Earwood. Chandler leads DSU with five points on two goals scored and one assist. Emma Earwood has four points on a goal and two assists.
• Last time out, the Lady Statesmen scored on a corner set for the third time this season as Evie Shepherd scored her first Collegiate goal. Later in the match against VSU, Earwood scored her first goal of the 2026 campaign off an assist from Millie Webb, but the comeback attempt fell short in a 3-2 setback.
• In Goal, Kim Bircher has been busy as she is one of the top keepers in the GSC averaging five saves per match. The Swiss senior has 23 saves on the season and a .742 save percentage. Redshirt Sophomore Piper Burgess has 18 saves on the season and a clean sheet under her belt as well.

Scouting the Lady Bulldogs:

• The Lady Bulldogs are looking to find a way into the win column this week as they hold a 0-3-1 overall record with the lone tie coming on the road last Saturday in Clinton against the Choctaws of Mississippi Christian.
• In attack, the Lady Bulldog senior forward Rebekah Jackson has been playing exceptionally well in the month of September. The McMinnville, Tenn., native has scored six points in the past two matches including both goals in the 2-2 tie last Saturday against MCU
• Only other Lady Bulldog to see the ball go into the net is senior defender Irene Arias. Arias has started in all four matches for Union and has logged the most minutes with 353 in the back line so far this season.
• In goal, Union has a duo of keepers that have seen action in the first four matches this season. Senior goalkeeper Antia Lopez Rodriguez has seen the most minutes in goal, playing 269:07 of the 360 minutes for the Lady Bulldogs where she has 16 saves and a .696 save percentage after facing 55 shots this season.

Scouting the Chargers:

• The Chargers enter this week with a 3-2-0 overall record and are 1-0-0 in conference play. The Chargers have been strong on the road, holding a 2-1 record with a win over a top-25 opponent in Tampa. UAH will be at home tomorrow against Trevecca Nazarene before hitting the road to Cleveland Saturday to face the Lady Statesmen.
• The Chargers have one player with multiple goals on the attack this season in redshirt sophomore defender Prescott Hull. Hull scored the game winner in their conference opening 1-0 win last Friday in Livingston against the Tigers from West Alabama.
• The Chargers have game winning goals this season also from freshman Cara Tortelli and junior Adriana Rojas. Tortelli has a team's second best three points on a goal and an assist this season with the assist coming in UAH's win at Tampa.
• In Goal, the Chargers have a veteran in senior CeCe Szopa. The Nolensville, Tenn., native holds a 3-1-0 record this season in goal with 21 saves, a .913 save percentage and two clean sheets this season.
