CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University men's soccer program fell to Florida Southern College 3-0 on Friday afternoon at Delta Field.
Florida Southern (3-0-0) took control early, scoring twice in the opening 17 minutes. Ollie Stephens found the back of the net in the 11th minute, and Hector Oliver added a goal in the 17th minute to give the Moccasins a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Delta State (1-2-1) responded with a stronger second half, generating seven shots after the break and applying pressure in the attacking third. Junior Villalba Martinez led the Statesmen with three shots, including two on goal.

Daniel Santema recorded nine saves for Delta State, keeping the Statesmen within reach despite Florida Southern holding a 21-8 advantage in total shots.
Oliver added his second goal of the match in the 83rd minute on a penalty to cap the scoring for the Moccasins.
Delta State returns to action Sunday morning as it continues non-conference play with a matchup against Eckerd College at 11 a.m.
