SOPHOMORE (2011): With a 20:53.25 at the 2011 GSC Women’s XC Championship in the Veteran’s Park 5k claimed Alyssa 24th place (10.22.11)…Ran a 21:39.91 for 112th place in the Brooks’ Twilight Invitational 5k (9.4.11)…Claimed a top 25 finish with 19th place with a season best 20:50 in the UAH Fleet Feet/Earl Jacoby Memorial 5k helping the Lady Statesmen team place 2nd overall (9.10.11)… Placed 117th with a 20:56.00 helping DSU place fourth best finish by a non-NCAA DI program in the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic (9.17.11)…At the 2011 Rhodes College Cross Country Invitational 6k set a personal best times in the meet with 24:12 for 27th place overall (10.1.11)… Closed the Mississippi College/Watson Ford 6K with a 24:53.56 to finish 11th overall (10.7.11)…Placed 36th with a 24:26 at the NCAA South Regional (11.5.11).
FRESHMAN (2010): Alyssa had a solid freshman year for the Lady Statesmen...She started the season by helping the team to a third place finish at the Fleet Feet/UA-Huntsville Invitational...She clocked the thirteenth best individual time of 20:45...She followed that time up by posting a 20:37.34 at the Brooks' Twilight Invitational...She cracked the record books at the Rhodes College Invitational turning in the 13th fastest 6k time at 24:28, helping the team finish third. Alyssa ran a 19:51.91 at the Chile Pepper 5K race...At the Southeast Collegiate Classic, Shetley ran a career best 19:48.29...She ran a 20:31 to help the team finish fifth at the Gulf South Conference championships...She capped off the season by helping the team to a sixth place finish at the NCAA South Regional meet..Her individual time of 24:45 lists as the 16th best 6K time in Delta State history...Was named an Academic All-American by the United Statesmen Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
PREP: Ran three years for Mike Hargis and one year for Geff Purcell at Salem Community High School in Salem, Ill....Named to the 2009 Illinois All-South Team after finishing 11th in the conference meet and 15th in regional action...Four-year letter-winner...Received Most Inspirational Award in 2007, 2008 and 2009...Also lettered in basketball and track...Posted a season-best 5K time of 20:28 at the Peoria Invitational this season...Named Miss Wildcat...Received Academic Excellence Award and Academic All-Conference in 2010...2008 Most Improved in Track...Top points leader at SCHS in track for 2010...Named Captain of the Cross Country and Track teams in 2009 and 2010...Led SCHS to the 2007 Regional title, while claiming Conference and Regional titles in basketball during the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons.
