Biography
FRESHMAN (2017): Completed her first collegiate race with a 23rd over finish, turning in a time of 16:52 in the Mississippi College Invitational (4K)…Finished 17th overall with a time of 18:51 in the University of Central Arkansas Challenge (5K)…Finished the Trevecca Nazarenne University DII showcase (5K) in 19:59, placing 33rd overall…Snagged 8th place overall in a time of 23:42 in the Mississippi College Watson Ford Invite (6K),marking the ninth fastest time in school history… Secured the Lady Statesmen’s first all-conference accolade since 2013 finishing 20th overall in a time of 19:06, shedding her previous time by 42 seconds in the GSC championships (5K)…Tied for second fastest 6K in school history and achieved USTFCCCA All-Region status by finishing 23rd overall to help lead the DSU women’s cross country team to a 15th place finish at the NCAA DII South Regional meet (6K)…Named Delta State University’s Athlete of the Week four times and the Gulf South Conference Freshman Runner of the Week (9/10).
HIGH SCHOOL: Ran cross country and track and field for coach Charlie Cutelli...Also played volleyball...Boasts a personal best 5K of 19:48.50...Helped Parkway West to a district championship and sectional championship in 2016...All-State competitor in the 400m and 4x400m relay in 2016, and earned All-District, All-Sectional and All-State honors in track and field...Named the team's most valuable runner...Ran a 26.64 in the 200m, a 59.88 in the 400m and a 2:25 in the 800m...Also earned the Most Hustle award in volleyball in for three consecutive seasons.Â
PERSONAL: Daughter of Octavia Saunders...Has two sisters, Sheliah and Shemaiah...Majoring in sports management.
