NCAA Qualifier in 50, 100, 200-meter Freestyle, 400-meter Medley and 200, 400, 800 Freestyle relays…Swam personal best in 200-free at NCAA’S with a time of 1:54.85…Earned All-American at NCAA meet in 400-Medley Relay, 800 Freestyle Relay, 400-Freestyle Relay…NCAA Division 2 Female swimmer of the week…DSU record Holder in 200-Freestyle, 200-Freestyle Relay, 400-Medley Relay, 400 and 800-Freestyle Relays…NSISC All Conference Team…3rd at Conference meet in 100 meter Freestyle (52.59), 4th in 200-Freestyle (1.55.03), 5th in 50 meter Freestyle (24.25)…2008-2009 “Newcomer Award” winner.

PREP: Waddell was a four-year letterman under Coach Pat Wilson where she competed in the 50 and 100 free relays, 200 free, and 100 fly. She was MVP of the swim team all four years, received the Times Daily Newspaper “Player of the Week,”… Awarded the Florence High School Swim Team Academic Achiever Award all four years, and earned the Lane Leader Award in 2008...2002 anchored the 200 Free Relay as her nationally ranked team won the Southeastern Championships Long Course...2007 placed fifth in the 50-Free in the Southeastern Championship Long Course...2006 and 2008 fourth place finish in the 50-Free and 100-Free at Alabama High School State Championships. 

PERSONAL: Waddell was a member of the Key Club, Student Council, FCCLA, FCA, FLY Club, and the Nenon Club. Mary Katherine is daughter to Jimmy and Kathy Waddell of Florence Alabama. She also has a younger sister, Molly and brother, Carter.
