The Delta State University Department of Athletics is located within the Chadwick-Dickson Field House and the Billy Dorgan, Jr. Student Performance Center.
The Statesmen and Lady Statesmen compete at the NCAA Division II level. Delta State University is also a member of the Gulf South Conference sponsoring 13 intercollegiate sports. DSU currently offers seven men's and six women's sports.
Mike Kinnison, Director of Athletics and Head Baseball Coach, currently leads one of the most dynamic programs in all of NCAA Division II. The Athletic Administrative Staff, a group of seven assistants, works along side the director.
The Mission
The mission of Delta State University Department of Athletics is to advance the role of the University in its pursuit of excellence of providing the total educational experience for its students. The Athletics Department will produce competitive and entertaining athletic teams, by recruiting outstanding student-athletes, and maintaining quality coaches and staff. The Athletics Department will prepare student-athletes to be productive members of society by molding their development socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. This commitment will breed success for the student-athlete, the athletics department, and the institution. Delta State Athletics is committed to this mission.
