Jonathan Moody enters his second season with Delta State University baseball program as a graduate assistant coach working with the pitchers.
Moody was a two-time All-Gulf South Conference selection for the Statesmen from 2014-2015. The Millington, Tenn., native posted a 14-5 career record with a 3.53 ERA, 137 strikeouts and 38 walks in two seasons. Moody went 9-4 in 2014 and 5-2 in 2015, helping the Statesmen to a pair of GSC Tournament runner-up finishes and a berth in the 2014 NCAA Division II South Region.
In 2016, Statesmen pitching staff had a 2.53 strikeout-to-walk ratio while starting pitchers averaged 6.2 innings per start. The Statesmen posted a 3.56 era with a 418 strikeouts and 165 walks in 488.0 innings pitched.
Juniors Dalton Moats and Tre Hobbs earned All-GSC, All-South Region and All-American honors while posting a combined 25-5 overall record. Moats led the Statesmen and the GSC with 115 strikeouts while Hobbs was named the GSC Pitcher of the Year, ABCA, CCA and NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Year.
Moody graduated from Delta State in 2015 with a degree in social sciences and is currently seeking a Master's degree in business administration.
