2020 (SENIOR): Made one relief appearances before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic…tossed two innings with a strikeout and two walks while giving up one run on no hits against Mississippi Valley State (2.19).

2019 (JUNIOR): Helped the Statesmen to a 42-14 overall record and a 20-9 mark in the Gulf South Conference while winning the school's 15th GSC title and a runner-up finish in the NCAA South Region...made five relief appearances, pitching eight innings with nine strikeouts...allowed fiver uns on six hits...struck out a season-high three batters against East Central (2.1) and against Arkansas Tech (2.26)...went 0-1 with a 5.62 ERA.

JUCO: Spent time at East Central Community College under head coach Neil Holliman…Griffin appeared in 13 games started 12 of those games earning a 6-5 record…Griffin pitched for 65.2 innings with 83 strikeouts which earned him an 11.38 strikeout average in a 9 inning game…ended his sophomore year with a 3.56 ERA…Griffin’s freshman year he appeared in 10 games starting 6 of those games earning a 2-1 record...pitched for 20.2 innings with 18 strikeouts which earned him a 7.84 strikeout average in a 9 inning game.
 
PREP: Played varsity baseball at Hebron Christian High under head coach Todd Griffin…part of the 2016 MAIS Baseball Championship team and the MAIS Basketball Championship team…also won the 1A MAIS All-State Pitcher award in 2016.
 
PERSONAL: Payton Griffin…son of Todd and Sherry Griffin…has two siblings, Trey and Brooke…majoring in environmental science.
