Delta State University

In his first season, the Statesmen defense led the GSC total defense (309.2 ypg./29^th NCAA), rush defense (122.0 ypg./36^th NCAA) and sacks per game (2.70). DSU also ranked second in red zone Defense (.714/38^th NCAA).  Additionally, linebackers Vada King and Marvin Terry earned All-Gulf South Conference honors. while 13 Defensive Players were named to the 2019 GSC Fall Academic Honor Roll with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

The Brandon, Miss., native played two seasons at East Carolina from 2017-2018 and spent two seasons at Jones Junior College prior to ECU.

In two seasons with ECU, Gibbs tallied 101 tackles, 46 solo stops, while tallying 9.5 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one interceptions and three pass deflections in 25 games played. the Northwest Ranking product was selected Newcomer of the Year by the ECU coaching staff.

During his time at Jones, Gibbs led the Bobcat defense with 68 tackles (40 solo), 11.0 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks as a sophomore while helping Jone's to a 6-3 record. The Brandon, Miss., native earned First-Team Mississippi Association of Junior and Community Colleges (MACJC) honors as a sophomore. Gibbs netted 22 stops and 2.5 tackles for lost yardage in nine games as a freshman in 2015.

Gibbs had an impressive prep career at Northwest Rankin High School, lettering three-year while totaling 291 career tackles, 25 tackles behind the line and eight sacks. Gibbs went on to nab All-Region laurels as a junior and senior and was an All-State performer and Team Captain in 2014 . Gibbs recorded over 100 tackles and six sacks each during senior and junior campaigns  while also earning additional letters in soccer (4) and baseball (3) at Northwest Rankin. Gibbs excelled in the classroom with a 4.0 grade point average.

Gibbs is the brother Michael Gibbs, who was an All-America football standout at Delta (Miss.) State and currently serves on the Arkansas State staff.
