Chance Alberswerth

Chance Alberswerth enters his second season on the Delta State University football staff as the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. 

In his first season with the Statesmen in 2019, DSU's defense led the GSC total defense (309.2 ypg./29th NCAA), rush defense (122.0 ypg./36th NCAA) and sacks per game (2.70) while ranking second in red zone defense (.714/38th NCAA). The "D" boasted five All-GSC performers, including defensive lineman Eric Sadler. Zane Samuel tied for fourth in the GSC with teammate Eric Sadler with 6.5 sacks and was tied for fifth in tackles for loss (13.). Sadler notched 11 tackles for loss to rank ninth while Kahlil Johnson's three sacks ranked in the top 20 in the GSC.

Alberswerth most recently served as the defensive quality control coach at the University of Memphis after coaching the defensive line for two seasons at Upper Iowa University.

Before his stint at Upper Iowa, Alberswerth was the linebackers coach at Missouri Western State University in Kansas City, Mo. During his time with the Griffons, he coached a pair of All-MIAA linebackers and worked with the team in a variety of ways. He served as the Alumni Relations Director and Associate Social Media Director as well.

Before his time with MWSU, Alberswerth spent the spring season at his alma mater, Avila University in Kansas City, Mo., working with the defensive line. Before heading back to Avila, Alberswerth spent two seasons as the defensive line coach at Hastings College in Hastings, Neb., where he coached six All-GPAC defensive linemen during his stint with the Broncos.

Chance graduated from Avila in May 2013 with a bachelor's degree in business education and earned his masters of art in teaching from Hastings in December 2015.
