Derrien Covington enters his first season at the strength and conditioning coach for Delta State University Athletics.
Covington returns to the Delta after serving as a strength and condition intern for the Mississippi State University football program. During his time at MSU, Covington worked closely with the Bulldog football team monitoring proper weight techniques and conditioning.
The Picyune, Miss., native was a member of the Statesmen’s 2011 and 2014 Gulf South Conference championship teams during his playing career from 2011-2014. Covington recorded 32 tackles, 17 solo stops, with five tackles for loss and four sacks in 26 career games.
Covington graduate from Delta State with a degree in exercise science in 2016 and is currently perusing a post graduate degree in human performance.
