Nick Popiel enters his third season as an assistant coach on Todd Cooley's staff, and his first as a full-time assistant. The Peachtree City, Georgia native will assist defensive coordinator Raleigh Jackson with the safeties. He will also serve as recruiting coordinator.
Popiel comes to Delta State from Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he served as outside linebackers coach and video coordinator.Â
Prior to joining the staff as BC, Popiel spent three seasons as assistant video coordinator and assistant linebackers coach at Georgia Military Junior College in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Popiel played one season at the University of West Georgia before suffering a shoulder injury that ultimately curtailed his career. He then transferred to Georgia College, where he graduated with a bachelor's in health education, including a concentration in community health and human services.
Popiel is currently pursuing a master's degree in sports administration.
