2017 (JUNIOR): Played in all 13 games for the Statesmen at linebacker, making four starts...Helped the Statesmen to a 9-4 overall record and a second round appearance in the NCAA Division II Football Championship Playoff...Recorded 42 tackles with 6.5 tackles-for-loss (26 yards) and 3.5 sacks (21 yards)...Recovered one fumble...Career-high nine tackles with a 1.5 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks versus Florida Tech on Homecoming...Totaled seven tackles at North Alabama.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played baseball for head coach Chris McMinn, winning four state championships... named one of the Clarion-Ledger's Top 40 baseball seniors...also played football for head coach Cliff Young...helped the Chiefs to an 8-3 finish and a playoff appearance last season...also part of two MAIS state champion runner-up finishes in 2012 and 2013...passed for eight touchdowns and rushed for over 2,000 yards and 28 rushing touchdowns as a senior...named first-team all-state and all-district as a senior, while collecting MAIS Offensive MVP and team Offensive MVP awards...played in the 2014 MAIS All-Star Game and was named a Clarion-Ledger Top Performer for three weeks during the season...as a junior, earned first team all-district RB/DB honors and second team all-state DB honors......also received strong interest from Delta State and UL-Monroe.
PERSONAL: Son of Dewayne and Jere Herrington...older brother, Dex, played football and baseball for the Rangers from 2010-12 and later played for the Statesmen...majoring in business.
