Biography

2019 (SENIOR): Played in 10 games with nine starts on the defensive front after transferring to DSU From the University of Memphis…helped the Statesmen to a 6-4 record…made his first DSU start at nationally-ranked Grand Valley State (9.14)…finished the season with 21 tackles, 11 solos, 3.5 sacks and four tackles for a loss, one fumble forced and a fumble recovery…also had two quarterback hurries and one pass break up…had a season-high five tackles at eventual national champion West Florida (10.5) and West Alabama (10.19)…credited with sacks against West Alabama (10.19) and at Shorter (11.2)…had two quarterback hurries versus UWA and posted a PBU at Shorter…the Statesmen defense led the GSC in total defense (309.2 ypg.), rush defense (122.0 ypg.) and sacks per game (2.70).

2018 (MEMPHIS - JUNIOR): Saw action In 14 games recording eight tackles including one tackle for a loss...also had two pass deflections and forced a fumble. 

2017 (MEMPHIS - SOPHOMORE): Saw action in all 13 games, including the AutoZone Liberty Bowl…had two total tackles (2 assists), one PBU and one QB hurry…registered his first stop of the season in a road game at UCF…credited with his first collegiate QB hurry in a road win at Connecticut…also logged a PBU vs. the Huskies…had one assisted tackle in a home win over SMU…member of 2017 squad that went 10-3, won The American West Division title (7-1 league record) and played in The American Championship Game…squad earned the program’s first Liberty Bowl bid and played in the hometown’s postseason classic.

2016 (MEMPHIS - RS FRESHMAN):  Saw game action in two contests...had one tackle (solo stop), one TFL and one PBU...received playing time in first collegiate game in a home win over Kansas...also played in the Tigers’ next contest vs. Bowling Green...logged first collegiate tackle - a solo hit - TFL and PBU in the home win over the Falcons...his TFL came on a Falcons’ third-quarter pass play in which he dropped the receiver for a 1-yard loss...his PBU came in the fourth quarter vs. Bowling Green. 

2015 (FRESHMAN): Did not seen game action..member of the 2015 squad that went 9-4 and played in the Birmingham Bowl. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for head coach Carlton Nelson at Kimball High School...helped lead the Knights to a University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 5A Region II District 13 runner-up finish in 2014...the 2014 Kimball High School squad posted a 7-4 overall record and a 5-1 district mark...the Knights advanced to the UIL Class 5A Division I playoffs first round...named to the 2014 UIL 13-5A All- District first team at defensive end…named the Knights’ Defensive MVP...also competed in wrestling, basketball and track and field (shot put/discus).

PERSONAL: Son of Tricia Roach and Reginald Johnson...has two older siblings, Tra and Trav, and a younger sister Gabby...born in Atlanta, Ga...interdisciplinary studies major.
