Biography
2007-08 Redshirted due to an early season injury.
2006-07: Proved to be a rising star in the GSC in his sophomore season for Coach Sam Dunning and the Statesmen…Played in six of ten events…Recorded three top ten finishes…One, a ninth place finish in the Ouachita Baptist Invitational where he fired a score of 152 over two rounds, and a personal best sixth place finish at the Doyle Wallace Classic carding rounds of 75 and 78.
2005-06: Played in every tournament for the Statesmen, posting a season low 218 (71-74-73) at the UCA Bear Classic in Cabot, Ark.
PREP: Played four years for Coach McGuchan at I.D.C.I…Earned four letters…Was named team captain.
PERSONAL: Ben Whelan…Born August 18, 1987…Son of Steve and Cathy Whelan of Ontario, Canada…Father was a pro golfer for five years…Has one sister Megan…Participated in the 2006 U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying Tournament at Canoe Brook CC in Summit, N.J. where he was paired with Vaughn Taylor, a member of 2006 U.S. Ryder Cup Team...Majoring in Accounting.
