Following an extensive interview process, Delta State University Director of Athletics Mike Kinnison has announced Austin Jackman will serve as the next head coach of the Statesmen Soccer program. Jackman returns to Delta State from Yale University where he served as an assistant coach under Kylie Stannard, after joining the staff in the spring of 2022.
"I would like to thank Coach Mike Kinnison and Dana George for giving me this amazing opportunity. Delta State University has a special place in my heart. It was an honor and privilege to wear the jersey for four years. I am extremely proud to have the privilege for our team to represent those who came before," said Jackman. "We look forward to giving the amazing Cleveland community a team that it can be proud of in the classroom, the community and on the field. I am extremely excited to be back in my second home and, can't wait to get to work."
Before joining the Yale staff, Jackman served as an assistant at Millsaps College since 2019. Prior to Millsaps, he spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Delta State, earning a Master of Science in Sport and Human Performance. He assisted in training, recruiting, travel, and game day operations and now holds a U.S. Soccer Federation National B license.
Jackman is a 2016 sports information graduate of Delta State where he was a four-year starter and a vital part of the first team in school history to advance to postseason play and reach the Gulf South Conference championship game. He led the team in goals scored as a senior and is sixth in school history in games started.
"Austin returns to lead the program he contributed to as a player. He was well respected in his time here as a teammate and coach. He has gained valuable experience in his prior positions and we are optimistic he will bring valuable experience to the Statesman program," stated Kinnison.
