David McAlister

David G. McAlister enters his second season as Graduate Assistant for Andy Robertson and the Delta State Statesmen soccer team

A Memphis, Tenn. native attended and played for Germantown HS under coach Matt Lane. His Germantown Red Devil team won one district and one regional championship and was the district and regional runner up twice.  He was awarded the "Red Devil Complete Player" award annually awarded to the player that excelled on the field as a player and leader and also exceled in the classroom.

McAlister played club soccer for Fury Soccer Club under Danielle Gonzalez, who was a former assistant coach for the Major League Soccer’s Chivas USA. McAlister also played club soccer for the Memphis Futbol Club under Richard Bute.

Prior to coming to Delta State, McAlister was an assistant coach at Bartlett HS in Bartlett, TN under head coach Robby Midyett in 2012 and 2013. He helped coach the team to a district and regional runner-up in 2013.

McAlister first attended the University of Tennessee and played two years for their club soccer team. He finished his degree in Sport Management at the University of Memphis.

He is the son of Jane McAlister-Gatewood and Mike McAlister and has one younger brother named Richard
