William "Bo" Petro enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Delta State University men's and women's tennis teams.
Petro was introduced by director of athletics
Ronnie Mayers as the school's next tennis coach on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018. Petro inherits two programs on the rise in the Gulf South Conference and NCAA Division II. Besides coaching both tennis programs, Petro remains as the Cleveland Country Club's Director of Tennis, where he has served since May 2018.

Petro's tennis stops include serving as the Tennis Professional for the Maryland Farms YMCA in Brentwood, Tenn., in 2017-18. Petro trained the high-level junior players for tournaments, taught private tennis lessons and assisted in setting the program's criteria during his time at Maryland Farms.

The Greenville, Miss., native also served as the Manager/Director of Tennis at Goose Creek Club in Oxford, Miss., from 2013-17. His duties included fundraising, teaching more than 100 students and hired and trained six assistant tennis professionals.

Petro was in private business from 2010-2015 before serving as the Assistant Women's Tennis Coach at the University of Mississippi from 2016-17.

He played collegiate tennis for the University of Mississippi. As a junior, he was Mississippi Junior Champion & won the National Interscholastic Tennis Singles Championship. Petro served as Head Tennis Professional at the Courthouse Racquet Club in Madison, Miss., from 2007-10 and as Assistant Tennis Professional at the Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Miss., from 2003-07. Other stops include Head Tennis Professional at Cypress Lake Club in Ridgeland, Miss., and at Reunion Country Club in Madison, Miss.

Bo has taught many outstanding junior players, including Mississippi Champion and nationally-ranked Ellie Yates, who played for the USC and Vanderbilt.

Petro received his bachelor's degree in business and marketing from the University of Mississippi in 2002 and his master's in business administration from Delta State University in 2013.
