Raina Stiffler begins her second season as an assistant coach after playing two seasons and serving two more as a graduate assistant coach with the Lady Statesmen under head coach Casey Bourgoyne-Charles.
Stiffler graduated from Marion Millitary Institute in Marion, Alabama with an associate’s degree in 2010. While there, she played softball and was active in the school’s ROTC program. She was a team captain for the softball team and a squad leader, recruiting officer, and platoon leader in the ROTC. Her duties included recruiting for the Institute by giving out flyers and explaining to high schools about the program. She ranked as Cadet Second Lieutenant and was in the Cord and Ribbon Honor Company.
Stiffler finished her collegiate softball career as a right fielder with the Lady Statesmen. She graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in special education. As a fifth-year senior, Stiffler received the Lady Statesmen Sportsmanship Award.
Following graduation, the Jacksonville, Florida, native returned to Marion Military Institute to take on responsibilities as the assistant softball coach. Her duties included recruiting, field work, practice, conditioning and game day events.
Stiffler also contributed as a volunteer, assisting with the Special Olympics, Hubbard House, Disabled Learning Center, Red Cross, and was a Georgia Bible Camp Counselor. She also gave softball lessons to in the community during her spare time.
