Sarah Gipson

Sarah Gipson enters her second season on the Delta State University softball staff with the responsibilities of coaching the Lady Statesmen hitters and outfielders.

Gipson served two season on the Missouri Western State University softball staff prior to arriving in the Delta. In her first season, Missouri Western qualified for the NCAA Central regional while MWSU hitters belted the third most home runs (49) and had the fourth best batting average in the MIAA. Gipson also worked with the corner infielders as third baseman Katie Klosterman earned MIAA Co-Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-MIAA and Second-team All-Region honors. In her second season, the Griffons ranked fourth in the MIAA in home runs and doubles.

Gipson played collegiately at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark., where she was named All-American, All-Region, and Great American Conference Player of the Year in 2015.

She finished her career with a .360 batting average, a school record 161 RBI, 49 doubles and 25 home runs. Gipson earned All-Conference honors each of her seasons as a Reddie.

Prior to coming to Delta State, she coached one season at the University of Texas at Tyler. She has also served as the head coach for Evangelical Christian School in Memphis, Tenn., and served as a student assistant for Henderson State where she finished her degree in Sport Management.
