Following a campaign in which he led the Delta State women's soccer team to a 6-12 record, which is tied for second most wins in program history, Luke Sheekey enters his second season as head coach of the DSU women's soccer team.
In Sheekey's first season, the Lady Statesmen also scored 32 goals, which ranks third in team history.

The London, England, native holds the highest coaching license issued by the United States Soccer Federation (National "A"). For three years, Sheekey was at the helm of the Louisiana Olympic Development program. He also helped direct Holy Cross High School (New Orleans) to its first state championship match appearance in program history. He was also in charge of the junior varsity team at Holy Cross, and the Louisiana Fire Youth Development program.

Sheekey served as assistant coach and associate head coach (2010-11) of the Baton Rouge Capitals (Professional Development League) for two seasons, assistant director of coaching of the Plantation Athletic Club for three seasons and was the head coach at Archbishop Chapelle High School from 2011-12.

Following his time at Archbishop Chapelle, Sheekey served one season (2012) as a graduate assistant coach for the Lady Statesmen and Statesmen and earned a Master of Science in Sports Management.

As a player, Sheekey played two seasons as a reserve and youth player at former English Premiere League Club Queens Park Rangers. He has also played multiple seasons for the Panama City Pirates, Baton Rouge Capitals and New Orleans Jesters (USL,PDL). Â
Over three full seasons, Sheekey scored 41 goals and added 17 assists, while earning NSCAA and Daktronics All-Region honors twice as a player at Sunshine State Conference member Eckerd College. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications Management/Athletic Administration from Eckerd in 2010.
