Dana George begins her 13th year with Delta State University. In June of 2014, George was promoted to Senior Executive Associate Athletic Director for Compliance/Academics/Senior Women's Administrators and Internal Operations.
Her duties include monitoring NCAA and GSC compliance with a focus on education and enforcement as well as supervising the department’s internal business operations. George’s designation as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) is required by the NCAA as the highest-ranking female administrator.
George works closely with the Cleveland community and stays in contact with DSU Athletics Alumni to coordinate various Statesmen and Lady Statesmen events. She is the advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, oversees the CHAMPS Cup Community Service/Engagement program, and serves on several university committees including being elected the 2010-11 Staff Council Chair. George is a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and is involved with many community organizations including Junior Auxiliary of Cleveland and the Cleveland-Bolivar County Chamber of Commerce.
Before coming to DSU, George held the position of Assistant Softball Coach at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas from 1998-2001. After a three year stint at SHSU, George took the position of Head Softball Coach at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri, a position she held from 2001-2004.
George completed her undergraduate work earning a Bachelor of Business Administration at Sam Houston State University after attending Mississippi Delta Community College and Delta State University. She also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Delta State.
George was a member of the 1997-1998 Delta State University Softball team and is the 1997-98 recipient of the Lady Statesmen Award.
She is married to Justin George, who is an Independent Agriculture Consultant. The couple resides in Merigold, Miss., with their three children, Anna Patton, Parker, and Blaire.
