Mary Elizabeth Evans enters her sixth season as the Head Cheerleading Coach for Delta State University.
Evans took over the cheerleading program in 2017 after serving as the assistant cheerleading coach at Cleveland High School in Cleveland, Miss., since 2013. Evans served as cheerleading instructor at Lake Carmorant Middle School in Lake Carmorant, Miss., from 2006-08.
Evans is also an accomplished teacher teaching fifth grade ELA and ninth grade special education at Lake Carmorant Middle School from 2006-08 before teaching first grade at Richland Lower Elementary in Richland, Miss., from 2008-2009 and fourth/fifth grade at Bovina Elementary School in Vicksburg, Miss., from 2009-2010.
Evans moved to the Delta to teach second grade, ELA, and fifth and sixth grade math, science and social studies at Bell Academy in Boyle, Miss., from 2010-2015.
Following Bell, Evans taught sixth reading at Margaret Green Junior High School from 2015-2017 and has been teaching sixth grade reading and social studies at Parks Elementary in Cleveland, Miss., since August 2017.
Evans was an All-State softball player and cheerleader at Mississippi Delta Community College where she received and Associates degree in general education in 2003. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Delta State University in 2006 and a Master’s degree in elementary education from Mississippi College in 2010 and received a Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction from William Carey in 2019.
