CLEVELAND -
Whitefield Academy's Christopher "Teddy" Lovelace signed a National Letter of Intent last week to play for Delta State University head coach Jason Conner and the Statesmen men's basketball program.  Lovelace's signing is the third so far this period.

"We're exited about Teddy Lovelace and what he brings to the program," Conner stated.  "Teddy is a quick, athletic and talented guard that can play the point or step out and shoot it.  He's a nice addition to the Statesmen and I believe he'll be a great fit for what we're trying to accomplish here at Delta State."

Lovelace played the past four seasons at Whitefield Academy for coach Tyrone Johnson.  The Mableton, Ga., native was a four-year letter winner and three year starter for the Wolfpack.

The lightning-quick guard helped guide Whitefield Academy to the Georgia Class A State Championship in 2008-09 and to three Class A -Region Three titles in 2006-07, 2008-09 and 2009-10.  The floor general also helped lead WA to three Georgia State Championship finals appearances in his four seasons - 2006-07, 2008-09 and 2009-10.

Serving as team captain in 2009-10, Lovelace was named to the Class A - Region Three All-Region Team.

Also a standout in the classroom, Lovelace carries a 3.2 GPA, while receiving honors in algebra, chemistry, physics and biology.
