Amber Adcock, a freshman on the Delta State University Lady Statesmen softball team, garners this week's GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week Award after hitting .384 in eight games over the last week, including a 3-run home run in a win over North Alabama and a double that set up the winning run in a walk-off win over Alabama-Huntsville
Adcock, a Brandon, Miss. native, scored seven runs and had seven RBIs in the eight-game stretch in five days. Her 3-run home run sparked a 5-run inning that put the Lady Statesmen ahead for good over North Alabama in a series split on Saturday. Adcock scored the game-winning run in the walk off victory against Alabama-Huntsville in game two Sunday.
Adcock also had a sacrifice hit and a sacrifice fly, to go along with a walk and a stolen base in the mid-week games. Adcock and the Lady Statesmen softball team will be back in action with eight more games scheduled this week, including double headers against Southern Arkansas at home and Arkansas-Monticello on the road before a pair of GSC double headers at West Alabama and West Florida.
