Andrew Jones, a senior place kicker/punter on the Statesmen football team, captured this week's GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week Award after nailing a game-winninng 33-yard field goal in Delta State's 38-35 come-from-behind victory Saturday at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas.  

The Kossuth, Miss., native was also a major factor in the game after averaging 47.0 yards per punt.  The 2011 All-Gulf South Conference and All-Super Region II selection punted five times for 235 yards, including a long of 62 yards in a key fourth quarter punt that pinned TSU deep in their own territory.  

Jones will lead the Statesmen back onto the gridiron this Saturday, Oct. 13, as DSU welcomes West Georgia into Parker Field-McCool Stadium.  Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
