Terry Leake, Jr., a 6-foot-5 guard for the Statesmen Basketball team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Monday, Nov. 19. Â The award is the first this season for Leake, Jr., and the third in his career.
The Memphis, Tenn., native averaged 25.5 points and 9.5 rebounds last week as the Statesmen went 1-1 on the hardwood. Â In the season opener versus Henderson State, Leake, Jr., finished with a game-high 29 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Â He followed up that performance with 22 points and six rebounds in a 72-65 win over LeMoyne Owen on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Walter Sillers Colliseum.
Leake, Jr., currently leads the Gulf South Conference in scoring (25.5 ppg) and ranks third in rebounding (9.5 rpg).
